Our friend and colleague, the journalist Tuğba Tekerek, has been imprisoned in Türkiye for a month.

She was arrested during nationwide raids, which targeted LGBTQIA+ organisations. She has been in pre-trial detention since 15 September. The investigation is related to a journalistic article she published in 2024 about the situation of queer people in Georgia.

For the past month, she has been sharing a two-person prison cell with three other inmates. And for the past month, she hasn’t been able to work or earn money, despite ongoing living expenses.
